Scheduled Backup is not executing

We've received reports that the Scheduled Backup was not being executed. In some cases, the system cron doesn't activate the schedule in the background. To ensure a functional scheduled backup, kindly trigger the cron job via the web by "pinging" the cron URL. The Cron URL can be located through JBWP > Schedules. The URL may look like the link below.

https://test.com/wp-content/plugins/backup-guard-platinum/public/cron/cron.php?token=e50a7b9e9cf3c92a0288e7b3db629c30

You may use a free "monitoring" tool to ping the domain every minute, triggering the backups. Below are some tools that offer one-minute interval monitoring to consider:

In versions before 2.0.9.14, the web URL token changed periodically (one-time use), however, JBWP 2.0.9.14+ uses a static schedule token. The 2.0.9.14 version is also available from the Client Area under "My Services" if you need to update JBWP on other sites.

In this example, we will walk you through setting up a Scheduled Backup Job using the 'Web' cron URL using hetrixtools.com

  1. Locate the 'Web' Cron by navigating to JBWP >> Schedules. If the 'Web' cron is missing, you may need to deactivate and reactivate the JBWP plugin.
  2. Create an account on hetrixtools.com then navigate to Uptime Monitors.
  3. Select "+ Add Monitor" on the top right
  4. A popup should appear to configure a new Uptime Monitor. In the configurations under "Monitor Type" select "Website Monitor" and under "Website Link" paste the web cron URL found in JBWP.
  5. Ensure to fill in "Monitor Name" and "Monitor From" to your preference.
  6. Navigate to JBWP and create a schedule. Select "Set next run to the past (will force backup run next cron hit)" for the scheduled backup to execute immediately.
